~ From all of our dance families and teachers :)
Gillian McCaffery has been teaching dance and musical theatre for over 25 years in Saskatchewan and Ontario. Gillian is an Examiner for the Royal Academy of Dance and the Canadian Dance Teachers Association- (Stage Division-Tap & Jazz).
Growing up in Lanigan, Gillian’s early dance education was with Jacquie Huck in Humboldt. She then started to teach in the small surrounding towns of Jansen and Leroy. Knowing that this was what she wanted to pursue, she left Saskatchewan after graduation to attend the Dance Teachers’ Training Academy in Oakville, Ontario. It was there that she worked with Elizabeth Paterson and Anuschka Roes to obtain the Teaching Diploma for the Royal Academy of Dance.
Moving back to Saskatchewan, she landed in Prince Albert and into a budding musical theatre community. A part of the original production at the Powerhouse in 1995, Gillian was one of the founding members of Broadway North and has enjoyed choreographing/directing over 30 musical productions. For 12 years, Gillian was the director and owner of The Performing Arts Warehouse in Prince Albert. She enjoys guest teaching for studios in Prince Albert and all over Saskatchewan.
In 2005, Gillian was awarded the Saskatchewan Centennial Medal for her contribution to the Arts and in 2006, was the recipient for the Prince Albert’s YWCA’s Woman of Distinction.
Gillian enjoys working as an adjudicator for dance festivals and truly appreciates the dedication and work shown by teachers, parents and students! Travelling through the world as an examiner is a real privilege and reminds us that dance is definitely an international language!
Gillian is very excited to be joining the faculty at Ballet n’ All That Jazz and is looking forward to working with lots of new smiling faces!
